What’s with the growing trend of real-estate agents not putting a price on property listings?
Do they expect us to believe the seller simply hasn’t decided how much they want for their house? Rubbish. They know exactly what price they’ll settle for.
It’s just a dodgy, rat-bastard tactic designed to create competition and squeeze more cash from buyers. But it ends up creating more work for the stupid agent and wasting everyone’s time.
Let’s imagine you’re a first home buyer and you get an e-mail from your friendly local dumb ass real-estate agent, much like this one.

You scroll through the listings and come across a house that looks pretty nice. Three bedrooms, hardwood floors, located in a nice area near schools and an Aldi… it’s perfect!
How much is it? Oh… it doesn’t have a price, just some lame ass real estate phrase. Make an offer! Owner wants offers! By negotiation!
Like most other first timers, you’re probably full of optimism and naivety and imagine that you can afford this house. They want offers, after all. They’re open to negotiation. Yeah, like hell they are.
That house is probably north of $500,000, which is out of reach for most new buyers. They’ve wasted their time inspecting the property and making an offer, the vendor has wasted time presenting their property for a potential buyer who was never going to buy and the agent has stuffed both parties around.
Before you critique my whinge, I get that auction properties cannot list a price by law. But I’ve come across dozens of homes this week that are without a price… even a rough range.
It’s annoying, deceptive and a massive pain in the ass.
